The State Audit Office invites you to discussion “How to motivate 300,000 adults to study so that they do not drop out of the labour market?” at the Lampa Conversation Festival at 2 p.m. on 6 July 2024, anyone interested will be able to join the conversation in the Future work tent and online.
The purpose of the discussion is to generate innovative ideas for future adult education that would help people to get better jobs and improve their lives with state support. The State Audit Office of Latvia considers that a novel approach is needed to promote adult education by focusing especially on people who lack the education and skills necessary for the labour market. The goals of social development can rarely be achieved only by administrative methods, therefore greater cooperation and involvement of the government, local and regional governments and non-governmental organizations is important.
#PēcRevīzijas, one can conclude that adult education is not currently organized in such a way that the funds of the projects implemented by the State Employment Agency and the State Education Development Agency are used as efficiently as possible in Latvia and as a result, not only each student individually, but the country as a whole will benefit. At the same time, the State Audit Office of Latvia has objected to the formal approach of adult education “reforms” repeatedly this week, namely, the draft Human Capital Development Strategy 2024-2027 still does not include activities to address the performance audit findings of the State Audit Office of Latvia upon its merits.

The State Audit Office is one of the independent state institutions enshrined in the Satversme (Constitution) of Latvia. The Constitution was signed by Roberts Ivanovs as the secretary of the Constitutional Assembly, who was then confirmed as the Auditor General. He worked as the first Auditor General for 12 years.
