The State Audit Office of Latvia calls on organizations to participate in the audit on granting disability status

14.01.2025.

In a performance audit on granting disability status, the State Audit Office of Latvia invites organizations representing disabled people to express their opinions on the problems related to obtaining disability status and state and municipal support available to disabled people. The organizations’ opinions will be important for providing specific recommendations #PēcRevīzijas for improving the system of granting disability status and the support needed by disabled people .

“In the performance audit launched at the end of last year, we will assess whether disability status achieves its purpose and is granted in the best possible way taking into account the needs of the target group and the available state resources to ensure this function. Cooperation with non-governmental organizations is essential in public sector auditing, as it allows for a better understanding of the needs of the target group and current problems in the relevant public policy area. We invite organizations representing disabled people to express their opinions, as their experience and insight are invaluable so that we can assess the existing system and provide recommendations for its improvement,” called Ms Maija Āboliņa, Council Member of the State Audit Office of Latvia.

To express their opinion, organizations are invited to contact Ms Olga Buivide, Senior State Auditor of the State Audit Office, by March of this year (E-mail: Olga.Buivide@lrvk.gov.lv).

The audit results are planned to be published at the end of 2025.
