Today, on 6 September 2024, the eight-year term of office of Ms Inese Kalvāne in the Council of the State Audit Office of Latvia and as the Director of the First Audit Department ends. I. Kalvāne was in charge of public sector auditing in such areas as foreign affairs, education and science, economy, traffic, public electronic media, and regulation of public services.
Since 2016, under the supervision of I. Kalvāne, 68 performance, compliance, combined, financial audits and investigations have been completed by providing more than 320 recommendations to audited entities. In their turn, four interim audit reports have been drafted as part of financial audits.
Auditor General Edgars Korčagins stated, “Ms Inese Kalvāne has made a significant contribution to the development of the State Audit Office of Latvia and to the implementation of our goals. Her work has had a lasting impact on the responsible management and transparency of public resources, as well as on the development of the country and the welfare of society as a whole. The values of the State Audit Office, that is, accountability, cooperation, and development, have permeated the work of Ms Inese Kalvāne throughout these eight years!”

About the State Audit Office of Latvia
The State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia is an independent, collegial supreme audit institution. The purpose of its activity is to find out whether the actions with the financial means and property of a public entity are legal, correct, useful and in line with public interests, as well as to provide recommendations for the elimination of discovered irregularities. The State Audit Office conducts audits in accordance with International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions INTOSAI (ISSAI), whose recognition in Latvia is determined by the Auditor General.
